Welcome to the magical world of potions
and enchanted artifacts. Today I’m covering the long-awaited section of motes
and magically powered items. As stated in a previous article, motes are magical
items that are used for activities such as polishing or cutting gemstones and the
production of enchanted items including potions and tools. In order to begin
our journey into the magical world that is jewelry and gemstones, we need to train
the trading skill Arcana until we have reached a total level of 25. This will
permit the competency required to craft the next tier of motes required for the
later tier gemstones for jewelry.
The first step this time is to locate and gather
Hyssop, a plant associated with spices, which can be found when using the
harvesting skill on patches of herbs. Coincidentally, the harvesting trade
skill will need to be trained to level 30 as the magical plants require this
rank of harvesting to obtain the magical motes from the elemental plants. The number
of plants and gathering required will also provide enough materials to train the
Arcana trade skill a little over halfway.
The average amount of experience gained
from Hyssop gathering will require the collection of about 70 plus patches or
just under 300 Hyssop. This will also provide an abundance of additional by-product
materials such as other herbs. These can be sold for bonus currency to fill in
gaps later where you may feel lazy or want to save time. Once the Hyssop has
been harvested, head to the nearest crafting location and begin making Weak
Health Potions. An amount of 300 is the targeted goal as well as 300 uses of
fresh water. Once completed, the Arcana skill should be around level 13. We can
now move on to harvesting magical plants.
The initial elemental plant we need to collect will be the Rivercress. This plant can be found around rivers, ponds, and small lakes. The amount of materials needed for the next potion will require a total of about 12 plants in total. Players’ harvesting levels should see a small increase to about level 33, but no significant changes will come from this grade of skill. Once finished with harvesting the materials from Rivercress plants, players should seek out the nearest source of fresh water as you will need about 100 uses of water to complete the creation of the next potion type named Common Focus Potions.
This marks the end of the harvesting and
Arcana training required for the next tier of jewelry crafting. The reason for
only building up to this point in training these skills is that it once again
ties back into stonecutting and building a proficiency in the beginner and
intermediate levels of jewelry creation. Most if not all skills overlap into
other branches of crafting or the creation of other items. This “web” appears
to be by design and can sometimes require a community or group of players to
cover different types of crafting. This guide allows a single individual access
to a quicker track of skill growth so that the player may work toward both
financial stability and character growth. With that being said, we can finally
move on to the part everyone has waited for… Jewelrycrafting!
There are just a small handful of
preparation steps that will allow players to jump through training their Jewelrycrafting
trade skill straight up to level 50. These materials include Silver Ore and
Flawed Gems. There are two methods of obtaining gemstones; however, we are
going to attempt mining for a handful of the Flawed gemstones before resorting
to the auction house where many crafters go to spend their hard-earned coins. The
amount of Silver Ore needed will be larger than any resource attempted to
gather up to this point. Luckily, Silver veins provide double the amount of ore
in comparison to Iron veins with the additional benefit of providing gemstones
more often.
The total number of Silver Ore required is
just over 2,000 pieces, so multiple trips will be required because of the sheer
amount of ore and its weight. The amount may scare or discourage some players,
but the ore can be collected from only around 35 veins total. Once all of the
veins and ore have been accounted for, players should also have leveled their
mining trade skill into the low 50s. This grants new abilities such as being
able to mine Gold veins and Alchemy Stones which provide rare materials and
magical motes we use in Arcana and stonecutting. You are also now able to track
oil deposits, but that can be covered in a later topic.
After the collection of all the Silver
ore, players can return to their crafting stations to hammer out a grand total
of 500 plus silver ingots. This will jump start the smelting refinement skill levels
all the way into the lower 50s and it would have been at a base of zero just moments
ago. The next steps of preparation will allow for a smoother transition from
the beginner tier of Jewelrycrafting into the higher tier of intermediate. Several
Flawed gemstones will be required amounting to about 56 in total. This crafting
step will also require a little over 100 motes of various elements depending on
the types of gemstones acquired or bought. After about 10 Alchemy stone veins
have been mined, players should now have their mining skill settling around the
lower 60s.
Once finished cutting gemstones, a player’s
stonecutting will be at a sufficient grade in the lower 50s. The only step left
is taking the Silver Ingots hammered earlier into Jewelrycrafting components. They
will need to be made into equal parts of thirds meaning that for every gemstone
a Silver Chain, a Silver Setting, and a Silver Ingot should remain. The magic
number should be in the low 50s. After this rush of jewelry is completed,
players will now have reached the magical level of 50 in their Jewelry
crafting. Along with all the other levels gained, players can now transition
into a smooth motion of making the next tier of Jewelrycrafting as well.
And lastly, we can take all the stone
blocks obtained and clear them out with a collection of Death and Fire motes,
but that will be the start of our next article as we touch down into weaponsmithing
territory again. With that being said, stay tuned and we’ll see you next time!
